Sorry Day and National Reconciliation Week
On Monday students participated in activities to further build upon their understanding of the importance of Sorry Day. Students participated in craft-based activities, shared picture story books and read memoirs of first nations people. One of the actions in our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) is the active celebration of culturally significant events. We have been celebrating National Reconciliation week this week and will continue to do so into next week. This year’s theme is Bridging Now to Next. Students will continue to learn about our commitment to reconciliation as a school. This is not something we only focus on during reconciliation week. We are committed to reconciliation all year round. Click on the link to understand more about this year’s theme: https://youtu.be/YWXYgLR_SaU
Kinder Story Time
On Tuesday starting at 2:40pm we will be running our second kinder story time. This is a great opportunity for kindergarten children to come and sample school for a session. We will be reading one of our favourite big books followed by an activity about the book. These sessions are always a fun time for children to see what a classroom looks like and feels like to be in. It’s also a great opportunity for parents to spend time in the classroom and helps provide conversation starters about school life. Even if you haven’t booked, it’s not too late to turn up!
Athletics Carnival and Coach Approach
Next Tuesday our Athletics carnival will be held for students in years 3-6 next Tuesday. Students in years P-2 will be involved in Coach Approach sessions whilst the 3-6 students will be hitting the field. NO, you’re not having a déjà vu moment in reading this. Unfortunately, due to heavy rains forecast for this week, we needed to postpone the carnival, and it is going ahead Tuesday June 3rd. Thank you to Miss V for organising both events that we know the students look forward to every year.
School Council
We are still looking for an additional parent to join school council. If this is something you think. You might be interested in, please get in touch with me. There is not a heavy commitment or workload with this role but is an excellent opportunity to join a team that is highly valued in our school. Perhaps even think about coming along to our next meeting to see how a meeting runs and what we discuss. I would love to chat to any of you that have had thoughts of joining but are just not sure if it is for you.
Wishing our Interschool sports teams all the best in this afternoon’s matches.
