Newlands Soccer World Cup

La Copa del Mundo en Newlands!

For the past two weeks, our school playground has been full of excitement as the Newlands Mini World Cup tournament unfolded during recess breaks. The competition has been nothing short of intense, with each game showing not only exceptional football skills but also remarkable leadership, responsibility, and teamwork abilities among our students.

As the group stage concluded, the leaders emerged with Venezuela taking the top spot in Group A, followed closely by Argentina in second place. In Group B, Paraguay secured the first position, with Colombia earning a well deserved second place.

Last Thursday, we witnessed the thrilling semi-final games that brought together Venezuela and Colombia on one side and Argentina and Paraguay on the other. The games were characterised by incredible balance, and the atmosphere was electric as a lot of other students cheered on.

Ultimately, Venezuela got a narrow 1-0 victory against Colombia, while Argentina secured their spot in the grand finale with a 2-0 win over Paraguay. The results have brought Venezuela and Argentina to face off in the big final, which is happening today at 11:10 AM.

The winners have something exciting to look forward to – they'll get the opportunity to play against a bright and lively team of teachers on the soccer field! Although we don't know the exact date and time yet, the enthusiasm is definitely in the air.

To our finalists, we send our best wishes. The path has been challenging, and your dedication and sportsmanship have shone brightly. Here's to an unforgettable first grand finale!

Yours faithfully,
