Unleashing lacrosse at Newlands Primary School
Newlands Primary School takes immense pride in its Lacrosse club, led by our enthusiastic teacher Kate Page, who brings her professional lacrosse experience to our school. It takes place every Thursday during first recess.
Lacrosse has captured the hearts of many of our young learners, bringing passion for the game that extends beyond school hours. Several students have joined an external club to further explore this beautiful sport.
A recent highlight was the visit of Kate's son, Oscar Page, an emerging star in the world of lacrosse. Having represented Australia in the World Junior U20 Lacrosse Championships held in Saskatoon, Canada, Oscar's achievements left us in awe. The tournament featured five other formidable teams from Canada, the USA, Scotland, Israel, and Poland. Australia achieved fifth place, showing remarkable determination and sportsmanship.
Oscar has been playing field lacrosse and box lacrosse for five years, during which he has excelled in both field and box lacrosse. His experience includes participation in two U15 national field lacrosse competitions and a recent appearance in the world championship for box lacrosse. Oscar's dedication is inspiring some of our students to embrace the sport and its values.
In the last week, our students had the privilege of engaging with him, learning from his experiences, and finding motivation in his achievements. Oscar's presence illuminated the potential within each student.
As we extend our gratitude to Oscar for his visit, we are filled with pride and excitement for the future of Lacrosse at Newlands Primary. Join us on Thursdays at lunchtime to be a part of this dynamic club and learn more about this exhilarating game.
Yours faithfully,
Raul Berral - Health and PE Teacher
