Flourishing in 2023

This term we have grown and flourished in our learning so much that we are now 128 days smarter!

On Monday 31st July, we celebrated 100 days at school. The day was filled with activities around the number 100. We dressed as 100-year-olds, explored collections of 100, made necklaces and bracelets with 100 fruit loops, made a trail of 100 blocks, shared what we would buy with $100.00, created 100 many ways, counted by 10's to 100  and sang silly songs, but the most exciting part of the day was working with our buddies hunting for numbers to 100 in a number scavenger hunt around the school.

At the beginning of the term, we visited the kinder kids at Sorrento Preschool to show them what great learners we are and that we can READ! 

We were so excited visiting some of our old kinder teachers and seeing the kinder kids. Many of them will be in Prep at St. Joey's next year so we told them how wonderful Prep is!

We had so much fun in Prep learning new letters and sounds to make words and write them. We know lots of tricky words and that a capital letter always starts a sentence and the end of a sentence needs a full stop or an exclamation mark or a question mark!

We have learnt all the vowel letters, a e i o u, and had fun learning many digraphs such as 'ee' as in 'wee', like when you go down a slide and say 'wee!'

Book Week dress-up day was lots of fun. There were many book characters to see and we read lots of different books and many shortlisted books too. We had a super exciting day with the 1/2s exploring books and activities. We made a puzzle, a hat for a penguin and a frog home collage.

 Lucky for us we have our own theatre in Prep where we have been investigating the arts- singing, dancing, performing and even entertaining our friends with magic shows! 

Our whole school production is only one sleep away and we are so excited. We can not wait to share our special part with you all.
