NATIONAL CHILD PROTECTION WEEK (3rd September - 9th September)

This year National Child Protection Week will champion the message

‘Every child in every community needs a fair go’.

This message captures the essence of National Child Protection Week which aims to promote a safe and supported life for every child, now and into the future.

The aim of Child Protection Week is to bring together schools, families and communities as partners in focusing on addressing the significant harms being experienced by children in Australia. By working collectively to change the trajectory of these children and families, we can reduce the number of children who may come in contact with the child protection system and improve their life outcomes.

As a part of National Child Protection Week, the Children's Policy Centre engages in rights-based, participatory research with children to understand what children themselves value in a community. They wanted to find out  ...........

What makes a strong and supportive community for children?

This project explored children’s views and experiences of community and aimed to increase understanding of community and community strengthening initiatives from a child-centred perspective. It resulted in the ‘Community Jigsaw’ – an analytic tool for developing strong, supportive, child-inclusive communities.

To gain a further understanding of how these aspects influence a child's life outcomes watch the following video:

What Can We Do As A Community To Help?

Look out for these great FREE WEBINARS being offered during October to encourage positive partnerships for parents with students on the autism spectrum or students who find challenge in transition and change :

Have a wonderful week!
