Principal's Page

Dear Families,

The performance day of the Great Wall of Courage Performance is just about upon us. The rehearsal today went really well and tomorrow night it sure to be a celebration of our Performing Arts program. A huge thank you to our School Production Team of Julie Finn, Jasmine Gregory, Jenny Young, Kamica Broadsmith, Sarah Pancic and Mel McFayden who have spent many hours planning and organising the whole school production. Thank you also to the many parents who have assisting by sourcing costumes, creating and painting props and transporting equipment to and from George Jenkins Theatre. Please check the recent Operoos for final reminders.

National Child Protection Week

This week is National Child Protection Week. We are committed to child safety at St Joseph's School and continually examine our processes and practises  to ensure we provide a safe, and positive learning environment.

Please continue to be vigilant in the supervision of your child/ren  in the local community as unfortunately there have been a few reports recently of suspicious behaviour. Police are aware.

MACSSIS

We are once again participating in Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools – School Improvement Surveys (MACSSIS). MACSSIS is an annual process whereby schools listen to the thoughts and feelings students, families and staff have about how their school can improve. These surveys help inform the ongoing improvement of schools across the Archdiocese of Melbourne.

One of the main goals of the family survey is to identify the strengths and areas for improvement in our school. MACSSIS data benefits everyone within our school and provides valuable community insights on areas that each school can focus on. Our school believes it is important to encourage families to have a voice and contribute to shaping the ongoing improvement of the school. Emails were randomly sent to families yesterday. Please complete the survey as we need to know how we can improve.

Father's Day

It was fantastic to see so many Dads and Grandpas at the Father's day Breakfast. Thank you to Jess Lumsden for organising the event and for all the parents who assisted. Thank you also to Zoe Pattison and the mums who helped at the Father's Day Stall. We are extremely fortunate to have so many generous parents who assist us.

Top Oval Netting

We are pleased that a new net has been installed on the top over in front of the Intercontinental suites and the existing net has been repaired.

Save the Date

An Oak's Day Luncheon has been planned for this year so keep Thursday 9 November free. This is not a major fundraiser this year but rather a fun, social afternoon for the ladies of our community.

Planning for 2024

We are busily planning for 2024. If you need to enrol a prep student or know that you will not be returning to St Joseph's, could you please let the office know at your earliest convenience.

End of Term Three

It is hard to believe another term is just about over. School will finish for the term next Thursday 14 September at 3:20pm. Staff will be participating in professional learning on the Berry Street Education Model on Friday.

Term Four will commence on Monday 2 October. Have an enjoyable and restful holiday.

Next Thursday we will have our annual 'Footy Colours' day. Students may wear their team colours to school. Go Magpies!

Have a great week,

Monica
