News from the Career and Pathways HUB
What is on HT Connect?
There are many resources on the HT Connect Careers and Pathways page to assist students and families in their research and career planning. The page is being updated with new content regularly and among the many resources currently available, you can find:
- Career information about a range of industries – these PowerPoints will provide ideas that students may never have considered as well as pathways to help them get there.
- Information for students considering completing VCE without an ATAR
- Links to the career bullseyes to give students ideas of career paths based on the school subjects they enjoy
- Information about developing a CV and cover letter and a current jobs board if students are seeking a casual job.
- Information for current year 10s
- Information for current year 11s
- Information for current year 12s
VTAC
Current Year 12 students are busily finalising their VTAC preferences, completing selection tasks, SEAS and Scholarship applications. For additional support in this process, please see the links below and don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
Please keep note of the below key dates over the coming months.
Early entry programs
Many universities, including Latrobe, RMIT, ACU and Swinburne, offer early entry programs that Year 12 students can apply for throughout June-October (application period depends on the university). Applying for these courses means that students may receive an offer to a course based on their Year 11 results and co-curricular and community involvement prior to sitting exams in October/November, which can alleviate a lot of pressure. Information regarding early entry programs for 2024 study can be found on HT Connect here.
Upcoming events
Universities continue to offer a range of onsite and online activities including campus tours and course information sessions. Please see the details below regarding dates and how to register for these events. Even if you have missed a session of interest, you should still be able to register to receive the recording if the event was held online. As always, I highly recommend students in years 9-12 use these events to assist with their planning and decision making.
