School Council

Kii TPS Community,

School Vision

School council is working to update the Thornbury Primary School vision. The vision statement serves as guiding declaration of the school's overall goals and serves to communicate our aspirations to internal and external audiences, while also providing a benchmark for evaluating progress and guiding decision making. Community sessions in term two helped to inform a series of possible new vision statements and we will soon seek further community input on these.

Social

The NAIDOC BBQ was great success providing an opportunity to come together to celebrate our values, enjoy a social event and also raise some funds for the school, triple bottom line success! It was a huge community effort to organise and run the event. Special mention to Sam and her mum for the jewellery/art/craft stall, it was a big hit. We are working on future events including a social event Thornbury Bowls Club on the evening of Friday 20th of October, so save the date.

Masterplan and Grounds

A kitchen garden shelter has long been a priority for fundraising and will provide a flexible all-weather space for learning. A scope of work has been confirmed with quotes being obtained from building contractors. We have been successful in our Nelson Alexander Foundation Day grant application. On September 9th Nelson Alexander will be auctioning a property in Thornbury and they will be donating their fee to TPS. The theme of the grant was food insecurity, and our project will see the rejuvenation of outdoor spaces on the Murray Street side of the Babajen. The year 4/5/6 teachers and learners will be involved in the design consultation process. Thanks to Danielle and Emily from the Enviro Team for all their work to put the grant application together.

Also, on September 9th from 10am-2pm we will be having a working bee! There will be a range of activities including gardening, mulching, painting, and - if helping the community was not reward enough, you are welcome to a BBQ lunch, where we will hopefully be able to celebrate a big grant success!
