Wear It Purple Day
A few weeks ago, Grade 5/6 students were invited to meet weekly at recess to organise Wear It Purple Day at TPS! They were a mixture of LGBTIQA+ identifying students and allies. They spoke about wanting their friends and anyone in the TPS community who identifies as LGBTIQA+ to feel supported at our school. The group had some great discussions about what kind of activity they would like to run on the day, taking into account students' diverse needs, the timeline, and how many things we were celebrating at TPS at the time. They came up with the idea of holding a Pride Game at lunchtime and presenting some information to the school.
The day was a success with students from all year levels coming to watch the Teachers Vs Students netball match. The teachers played to win (and won by a lot) but the winner on the day was definitely purple.
Thank you to those students who have given up their time to do what they feel passionate about, especially Luna, Luca and Poppy, Aliyah, Ines and Willa.
