Year 3/4–Celebrating Learning
Science!
Term 3 continues to be exciting and full of interesting learning. As part of our science unit, we have been learning all about heat energy. Students explore how heat is used in our everyday lives, they explain and identify various sources of heat, and participate in experiments to experience the properties of heat! (rewrite)
Maths!
In Maths, we have continued to look at our multiplication and division strategies and how we can write and solve problems using them. We have also started a unit looking at geometry and shapes, specifically 3D objects and their properties. One of the most popular activities we have done so far has been to build and decorate our own cubes and prisms out of a provided net.
English!
In Reading, students have begun a unit on the Australian author and illustrator, Shaun Tan. We have been looking at some of his stories and discussing his style of writing and the messages his stories tell, as well as his distinctive art style.
In Writing, students have been working towards publishing their many, exciting writing pieces they have worked on this term so that we can display them in a Writer’s Celebration in week 9. We are learning about the strategies we can use when publishing by hand or on the computer to make sure it is our best work!
As a 3/4 cohort, we worked on our display for Book Week: Our Bestseller’s Bookshelf! Each class spent time decorating the spines of our favourite novels, comics, and picture books to create an amazing display.
