Book Week Celebrations

Last week, we celebrated Book Week at SJV and what a wonderful week it was to celebrate our favourite books and Australian children's authors and illustrators!!!

Whole School Parade

The highlight of the week was most definitely the whole school parade on Monday. The joy and excitement was palpable as soon as students entered the school gates in their imaginative and eye-catching costumes! It was incredible to see so many students and staff members dressed up and the efforts put in by our wonderful school community is to be applauded!

Green Screen Activity

It was great to see a number of classes visit the library after the parade on Monday to take photos in front of our green screens. Our favourite book characters were seen striking fun and creative poses in front of the camera. They then used the Do Ink app to combine their photo with a related background image. The final images were unreal!

CBCA Shortlisted Books

Throughout Book Week and library lessons this term, students have explored the CBCA shortlisted books in the Early Childhood and Picture Book categories. Students have enjoyed sharing their personal preferences for these texts, providing reasons to support their choices. Many Book Week activities in the classrooms last week were based on these shortlisted texts.

Last week, the CBCA were thrilled to announce the 2023 BOOK OF THE YEAR AWARD WINNERS...

Congratulations to all CBCA Winner and Honour Authors, Illustrators and Publishers!!!
