Principal's Report
- Tania Sorbello
Wow! We have almost made it to the end of Term 4. Thank you to our wonderful staff, students and community for another outstanding year. The next two weeks will certainly be busy, with Grade 6 Graduation, $20 Boss, Open Afternoon, the End of Year Picnic and a range of in-class activities taking place.
Tomorrow, students will move into their 2026 classes for Step Up morning. This is an important opportunity for teachers to begin weaving the social fabric of each class and to ensure students finish the year with clarity and peace of mind about what the year ahead will look like.
It is that time of year when we farewell our outgoing Year 6 cohort. This group has brought so much to FNPS throughout their journey and, while goodbyes are always bittersweet, we are incredibly proud of the strong, capable individuals they are becoming.
A huge thank you to Kathleen and Nick, and to every teacher who has supported them along the way, for their leadership, care and guidance of this wonderful group. They will certainly be missed.
Next year, we are incredibly excited to welcome back Sarah Easton and Tom Barnett to FNPS in 2026 and we are also delighted to introduce one new face to our staff team: Tylah M, who will be joining our Year 5 team.
In 2026, we will also welcome Nicholas England as a second Assistant Principal. Nick will be working part-time, five days per fortnight, and brings extensive experience across both primary and secondary settings. He is currently Assistant Principal at Fitzroy Primary School, and in 2026 he will be shared between Fitzroy North and Fitzroy Primary Schools.
This year, we say farewell to our wonderful teachers, Evie Patrick, Abby Goldie and Jenni Aarinen. We wish them all every success as they begin their next chapters in new schools, supporting the learning of children and contributing to their educational journeys.
We also wish Anja all the very best for her twelve-month break. She will be travelling overseas in Semester 2, but you’ll still see her around the school before she departs. We look forward to hearing all about her adventures when she returns in 2027.
Please join us in giving Nick, Tylah, and all our returning and departing staff a warm FNPS welcome (and farewell!) when you see them in the yard.
The 2026 teaching structure looks as follows:

A huge shout out to our School Council who bring their passion for FNPS and their personal expertise to our governing body. This dedicated group volunteers countless hours to support the continued growth of our school and plays a pivotal role in the wonderful projects happening across our grounds. A very special thank you goes to our School Council President, Lincoln Gray, for his unwavering commitment, support, and the many hours he devotes to making FNPS a truly wonderful place to play, learn and grow.
To all of our other volunteers, whether through the Fete, classroom reading support, excursions, incursions or camps, your contribution to your children’s education enriches our school community and helps make FNPS the extraordinary place it is. Thank you for everything you do.
Go gently,
Tania
