Dear Parents and Carers,
Last Sunday we began the Liturgical Season of Advent. This season is one of the times of preparation in the Liturgical Year. It marks the beginning of the Church calendar and is a season of prayer, reflection, and anticipation for the coming of Christ. The four weeks of Advent traditionally focus on the themes of hope, peace, joy and love. This Year we move to Year A and the Gospel of Matthew. Advent is a great time to think about how we can prepare ourselves and be always ready for the coming of Jesus. Attending Mass each weekend helps us to centre our prayer life around the Eucharist. Jesus gace his life for us and in a few weeks we will celebrate his birth. At this time of year we reflect on our relationship with God and how we can build stronger connections in our faith. Let us pray for the St Martha's community as we celebrate Advent together.

This Sunday we will celebrate the wrap up of our 100 Years of Education at St Martha's. It has been such a wonderful year of unique opportunities to commemorate the wonderful learning that has happened at St Martha's since 1925. Our beautiful mosaic remains as a visual memory of this amazing year and the rich history of our school. We are grateful to all who have had a part in building this school to the thriving Catholic community that we enjoy each day. On Sunday at 10am Mass we will once more give thanks to God for all the blessings we enjoy here at St Martha's, for the wonderful Dominican Charism and the many priests, religious, principal's, teachers, staff members, students and parents who have contributed to our community over the years. We hope to see many families at the Mass and will have a lovely morning tea on the playground after Mass.

I am most grateful to those lovely parents who have given me Christmas gifts in the past and some already this year, but respectfully ask that you show your gratitude by making a donation to the St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal, instead of spending money on me. I have the greatest regard for all of you and know that you will want to make a difference to the people in the world who most need support at this time of year. I pray that together we can help those vulnerable people to have a joyous festive season.

Peace and best wishes
