Dear Skye Families,
Thank you to everyone who took the time to complete this year's Parent and Caregiver School Opinion Survey. The results are now in, and they offer valuable feedback on what we're doing well and where we can continue to grow. We're particularly proud of these standout results:
We'll be taking a close look at this feedback as we plan for ongoing improvements and continued excellence.
Our Transition Program for students in Years 1–6 commenced this week, offering two sessions to support students as they prepare for their next year level in 2026. It was great to see how well our students adapted to these sessions, showing maturity and resilience as they worked alongside different peers. We understand that change can feel uncertain, and we're proud of how our students have embraced this experience. Please remember that current transition groupings remain provisional and all placement requests are now closed. The final transition session on Tuesday 9 December will be when students meet their confirmed teacher and class for 2026.
Mark your calendars for next Wednesday 3 December, when we'll gather for our much-loved annual Community Picnic. It's a great way to celebrate the end of the year and welcome the festive season together. Pack a picnic rug and your favourite snacks, then settle in on the oval to enjoy performances of festive songs by our students. Please note this is an alcohol-free event.
When you arrive, children should first check in with their classroom teacher, then they're free to sit with you until it's time for their performance. They'll head to the 'wings' area when called. We can't wait to see you there.
We are pleased to confirm our pupil-free days for 2026. These days support staff professional learning, curriculum development, and planning for high-quality teaching and learning. Students do not attend school on the following dates:
We encourage families to note these dates in your 2026 calendars.
A talented group of our Year 5 STEAM students recently represented Skye at The Big Day In Junior (BDIJ), held at Hampton Primary School. This initiative, backed by the Australian Computer Society (ACS) Foundation, gives primary-aged students a hands-on introduction to digital technologies and design thinking in a dynamic, future-ready setting.
Our students immersed themselves in interactive workshops and demonstrations, diving into emerging tech and practising design thinking processes, from empathising and ideating to prototyping and testing. We're grateful to Mrs Nestor, our STEAM teacher, for creating this fantastic learning experience for our students.

Have a great fortnight!
Warm regards,
Tim
