Literacy
We will be finishing our novel study on Nevermoor by next week. Morrigan Crow will find out her destiny and discover what makes her so special. Can Jupiter North guide her through and keep her safe from the Wondersmith?
Our Memory Books are coming along nicely and we are now at the stage that all of the pieces of work highlighting events and memories from each year are fully drafted and ready to be written into the Book. It'll be a nice keepsake to look back on in future years! I wish I'd have done one when I was in Grade 6 as my memories are getting a bit hazy with age!
Maths
As the year draws to a close, we move into data and statistics, where we think of an area that we want to explore, pose a fair question, collect information, analyse it and present it in a form that is clear and easy to understand for the reader.
We are continuing our 'fluency frenzy'. Students are working hard to master all of their multiplication facts or improve their recall speed. The times that the students are recording are rapidly decreasing. These automatic recall of times tables and addition and subtraction facts are the absolute bedrock for their maths as they move into secondary school. They are doing a great job!
Wellbeing
In Respectful Relationships, students are furthering their understanding of positive relationships. They are participating in group discussions about being proactive and assertive when maintaining interpersonal relationships that respect and recognize the rights of others. We want the students to be confident in themselves and to be able to form accurate opinions on the qualities of the new classmates that they will meet next year.
Thanks for reading!
