Literacy: Who knew poetry would be this popular? Cinquain and Acrostic poetry has proven to be a favourite amongst the Grade 3's! We have written many drafts, used our mini thesaurus' to help 'level up' our vocabulary and worked on presenting our work beautifully! Check out just some of the samples below!

We are wrapping up our text 'Yirra and her deadly dog, Demon' this week and the students are hanging to hear how things end... will he end up trained or will Yirra have to send him away?
Numeracy: We have now wrapped up our assessment period and jumping into some revision. We are working on number facts, mass and capacity. You can help your child at home by involving them in on cooking, measuring out ingredients, looking at labels and learning the difference between g and ml and kg and L.
Over the upcoming summer holidays, it will be very important to work on retaining number facts. Many websites have free resources to help practise these online or you could print some things out and practise too! See below.
Inquiry: This fortnight we have been looking at the perspectives of child convicts. The students have looked at some examples of child experiences and have worked on a profile from one of their chosen people. In the next fortnight we will look at First Nations perspectives, what they went through and what happened during colonization.
Wellbeing: We were investigators this week in Wellbeing! The students investigated fairytales and the concept of stereotypes. We discussed what this means and read 'Jack and the Beanstalk'. We discussed what the characters get to do, what the message might tell kids reading these stories. They had a great time investigating a range of fairytales in groups!
