We have had an exciting week with a very successful and positive two practice step up days. All the kids did an amazing job showing resilience and confidence on both days. We noticed how settled they all were and how they were all eager to share their experience with us and their classmates. We hope you heard all about it at home too.
COMMUNITY PICNIC EVENT NEXT WEEK!!!!!
We have all been busy practising our Christmas songs that we will be performing at our annual community picnic. Students are invited to wear Christmas colours, t-shirts, hats, accessories and whatever they feel comfortable in. They are all very excited and have had lots of fun getting ready to share their Christmas spirit with their loved ones. We hope to see you there.

Writing
Students have been enjoying our new text Dingo by Claire Saxby. We have had some great discussions around the differences in informative texts and narratives texts. We always enjoy the rich discussions that come from these lessons. All Grade 1 teachers are feeling very proud of the growth students have shown in their writing using our narrative mountain structure to help plan a piece of writing that includes characters, settings, feelings, problems and solutions.
Numeracy
In Numeracy we are looking into time-related concepts including student's understanding of the days of the week and months identifying the elements of a calendar. We will also be investigating durations of time represented in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander seasonal calendars.
Inquiry
We continue to explore light and shadows.
