BYOD @ ENPS in Review

As a part of our commitment to continuous improvement at ENPS, we are currently reviewing our Digital Technologies curriculum implementation strategy across the school. This includes our Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program from Years Three to Six.
At ENPS we recognise and value the role of digital technologies (and mobile devices) as both learners and educators. We have invested heavily to ensure we have the infrastructure and resources to support this and we worked closely with families to maximise learning opportunities in the classroom and at home.
For the past ten years, students from Years Three to Six have been able to bring their own digital device to school to enrich and enhance learning and teaching. While students in Foundation - Year Two have had access to school owned devices at the ratio of 1:2.
This strategy has placed us well for the extended years of remote and flexible learning during lockdowns, along with the positive impact and developments globally in the field of digital learning and teaching that have been exponentially evolved.
We recognise our children as digital natives, yet certainly acknowledge that this comes with complexities and challenges for our young people, families and staff in many ways.
As an ENPS staff, we have been reflecting on how best we use electronic devices (through our BYOD program) to develop core digital learning and academic skills for students, whilst supporting positive social and emotional development and wellbeing.
As a part of a review of our BYOD program, we recognise and value the feedback, insights and perspectives of all stakeholders; staff, parents and students, are important in moving forward. Over the coming weeks a team will implement this. This feedback will formulate a basis for that review. Please keep an eye out for feedback opportunities in the coming week.
We communicate this with our families now with 2026 in mind. While at this stage nothing has changed, we are mindful of our Year Two families potentially beginning to consider devices for Year Three, along with those families looking to upgrade devices in other year levels.
We will communicate any updates and further information as timely as practical.
