Inquiry: Discovery

This term in Prep, students are exploring the world of materials! They’ll be investigating different materials, their properties, and how they can be used. Through hands-on activities like building an aluminium foil boat, creating a bridge, and exploring fabric, students will learn how materials behave and what makes them useful.

In Year 1/2, students are diving into light and sound! They’ll explore how light helps us see and how shadows are formed. They’ll also experiment with sound—using their bodies, instruments, and technology to create different effects. The term will culminate in a creative puppet show, where students will bring a story to life using sound and light.

Year 3/4, students are exploring forces and coding! They’ll investigate how forces can move objects by designing and building their own balloon-powered cars. Students will also dive into the world of programming, learning to create simple projects using Scratch.

Up in Year 5/6, students are investigating the wonders of science!Through hands-on experiments, they’ll explore light refraction, electrical circuits, states of matter, and the vast scale of our solar system. Students will build exciting projects such as a thermoscope, a paper circuit, and a balloon-powered rocket. To finish the unit, they will create a presentation and quiz to showcase the fascinating facts they've discovered.
