Principal's Report

Dear HPS Community,
Monday is the SRC organised Pyjama Day! Wear your comfiest PJs and bring a gold coin donation. All money will be donated to The Pyjama Foundation who support Children in foster care.
An Exciting Week of Real-Life Learning!
This week has been full of excitement and authentic learning opportunities as major building works took place on our school grounds. Students were captivated by the real-life action happening just outside their classrooms, with cranes, trucks, and a team of workers moving our relocatable buildings into their new positions.
The project sparked curiosity and rich discussions among students, offering a unique chance to see engineering, logistics, and teamwork in action. Many classes used the opportunity to link what they were observing to their learning — making it a truly immersive educational experience. You can read some of the great work from The Year 2 HPS Times as part of the Assistant Principals' Report!
We’re grateful for how smoothly the process was managed and thank our school community for their support and flexibility during this time. It’s an exciting step forward in our continued growth — and one that our students won’t forget anytime soon!
3 Way Conferences
Three-way conferences involve teachers, students, and parents discussing student's progress and goals. These conferences focus on student reflection, goal setting, and collaborative problem-solving, shifting the traditional parent-teacher meeting to one where the student is actively involved and taking ownership of their learning.
If you would benefit having an interpreter present, please inform the class teacher or Helen Thomas.
Key aspects of 3-way conferences:
Student-centred:
The student is at the centre of the conversation, sharing their work, reflecting on their learning and past goals, and setting new goals.
Collaborative:
Teachers, students, and parents work together to assess progress, identify areas for improvement, discuss strategies and plan future steps.
Strengthening partnerships:
These conferences promote communication and collaboration between parents, teachers, and students, fostering a supportive learning environment.
Enhanced learning:
By actively participating in the conference, students take ownership of their learning and are more likely to be motivated to achieve their goals.
Bookings are open for families to book a 10 minute 3 way conference time on either Tuesday 19th August from 3.40-7.00pm OR Thursday 21st August from 3.40-5.30pm.
Bookings will close Monday 18th August 5.00pm.
