School Cross Country 

Our whole-school Cross Country took place yesterday in ideal conditions, making for a fun and energetic morning for all. Students showed fantastic determination and a wonderful spirit of sportsmanship throughout the races. 

 

A huge thank you to our amazing staff for their dedication and hard work on the day! Your diligence and enthusiasm behind the scenes ensured everything ran smoothly and made the event truly memorable for our students. Special thanks to our wonderful maintenance staff, Trev and Tim, for their outstanding efforts in setting up and packing up, and to Trev in particular, for putting the podium together so beautifully. Thank you for the time you gave to do this for our students and school. 

 

We also sincerely thank our parents and supporters for their encouragement and involvement. 

 

We’re excited to see many of our athlete's progress to the Divisional event and wish them every success, we know you’ll make the school proud!

Cross Country Preparation in Term 2

This will continue throughout term 2 and as our successful students' progress through the competitions (divisional, regional and state cross country). However, any student is still welcome to join; they don’t have to compete at these school competitions to come along.  

Students are encouraged to check the PE notice board outside the shed for days and times.

Boys SSV Basketball State Team Trials - Stage 1

On Thursday 19th March, three students travelled to Red Energy Arena to compete in Stage 1 of the SSV State Basketball Trials. Xave Connolly, Aiden McDermott, and Nash McMaster all represented our school exceptionally well, giving their best efforts while demonstrating outstanding character and sportsmanship throughout the day. 

 

Only eight boys were selected to progress to the next stage, with Xave and Nash earning a place among those selected. We congratulate all three boys on their efforts and the way they represented our school and wish Xave and Nash the very best of luck in Trial 2. You have all made us incredibly proud.

Boys SSV Football State Team Trials - Stage 1

On Wednesday 25th March, students headed to Harry Trott Oval for the first trial of SSV Football. Congratulations to Aiden McDermott, Xavier Connolly, and Henry Harrington for their efforts and for representing the school so well. 

They approached the day with great intent, demonstrating strong effort, teamwork, and sportsmanship throughout. 

A special congratulations and best of luck to Henry, who has progressed through to the next stage. 


Boys SSV Cricket State Team Trials - Stage 1

Congratulations to Henry Harrington, Quade Baker, and Aiden McDermott on trialing for the SSV cricket team on Monday. 

 

All three boys should be proud of the way they have embraced the opportunity, demonstrating strong effort, teamwork, and sportsmanship throughout. 

 

We eagerly await the result of the trial and see who may have progressed. 


Buffalo Stampede 

Last weekend, the Buffalo Stampede took place in Bright. The students from St. Francis of the Fields who participated in the 2km race performed very well; 5 participants, 5 podium finishes in total. In their respective categories:  

  • Ayla Bulota: 2nd place 
  • Lohan Bulota: 2nd place 
  • Leticia Bulota: 3rd place 
  • Levi Pearce: 2nd place 
  • Spencer Pearce: 3rd place 

 

And overall: Lohan 2nd and Leticia 3rd.

Karting Championships

Between the 12th-15th March, Jack Morrell (4H) competed in the Australian Kart Championship in Coffs Harbour. Jack was racing against kids from all around Australia, as well as New Zealand, China and Thailand. 

 

In the largest field since the Australian Kart Championship started in 2015, Jack went up against 29 of the best cadet karters in the country (9 years old and under). These youngsters reach speeds of over 95kph, whilst the senior classes reach over 140kph.

 

With 8 practice sessions, qualifying, 4 heats and a final, Jack battled it out over 4 days in both wet and dry conditions, finishing the final in 6th Position. 

 

The action was streamed live on 7Plus.

 

Jack's next event is the Victorian State Championships in Albury on the 17/18/19 April.

Basketball success

Last Friday night, the St Francis U12 boys Razorbacks won their Grand Final!

The team includes:

  • Jackson Crapper 
  • Sullivan Gooding
  • Beau Jet  
  • John MacIver 
  • Lachie Mccormick 
  • Seamus Rowley (attends Strathfieldsaye PS)
  • Chestin Woodmore 

The boys played Victory Stars and won 40 to 19.

Everyone represented the school so well, with all boys being very humble and respectful with their win. As parents, we were all very proud!
