Sci Tech

Hi All,
Over the past few weeks, students have been actively engaging in a range of hands-on SciTech learning experiences that encourage curiosity, problem-solving and the application of technology within the scientific process.
Our Year 3 & 4 students have been exploring the basics of programming using Blue Bots. Students designed and constructed their own mazes and then programmed their Blue Bot to successfully travel through the course. Through this process, students planned their code, tested their programs and modified their instructions to ensure the Blue Bot could navigate the maze and meet the success criteria. This iterative process helped students understand that programming often involves testing ideas, identifying problems and making improvements.
Our Year 5 & 6 students have been investigating circuitry using Makey Makey. Students built working circuits using alligator clips, aluminium foil and everyday objects connected to the Makey Makey interface. By linking their circuits to Makey Makey’s online software, students were able to create sounds and interact with digital programs. Many students extended their learning by using their circuits to control interactive games, including playing soccer within the Makey Makey applications.
Across all year levels, students have also been learning about some of the most influential figures in physical science, including Albert Einstein, Nikola Tesla and Thomas Edison. Students investigated their contributions to the field of science and explored how their discoveries continue to influence technologies and innovations that we use in the world today.
It has been fantastic to see students continuing to demonstrate our school values throughout these activities. Students have worked collaboratively, shown perseverance when solving challenges, and treated each other with respect while exploring new ideas and technologies.
If you have any questions about our SciTech program, please don’t hesitate to contact us at school.
