School Fair | Volunteer Sign Up, Donations & Charity Partner

School Fair - 11am-2pm Saturday 21 March 2026

Volunteers

  • As an update, we have approval to only have one person on each stall with their WwVP registration. So long as we have one WwVP registered person on each stall, then the other volunteer can help without the need for WwVP registration.
  • Parents and guardians are encouraged to sign up to volunteer on stalls at the Fair via: https://signup.com/go/NRxpphQ
  • There are plenty of spots to fill, including help with drivethrough supervision, waste and recycling, finance, facepainting payments and the secondhand uniform stall.
  • House stalls will be run by students, so parents/guardians are not required to help on these stalls.

Donations

  • Please see the special request below from the Migrant Resource Centre.
  • We no longer require any secondhand uniform - the stall will be full!
  • We are looking for gumboots for the gumboot toss, small plants for the Year 6 stall, soft toys for the Year 3 stall and good secondhand books. Except for the plants, please drop off items at Main Reception over the next 3 days. For plant donations, please drop off at the Middle School Office.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Our Charity Partner for The Friends' School Fair is the Migrant Resource Centre Tasmania. All proceeds from the Fair will be donated to this local organisation that supports and empowers migrants and refugees to settle and live fulfilling lives in Lutruwita/Tasmania.

MRC Tas are running a ‘ready for school’ donation drive that provides newly arrived children from refugee backgrounds with the supplies they need to start school. With support, they provide a backpack, lunch box, drink bottle, some art supplies like pens, crayons and notebooks, a small craft or sports related item, as well as a voucher to buy school shoes and a diary for the parents to keep track of school and other appointments.

They would welcome donations of new or as-new items from this list, which you can drop off at the School Main Reception, 23 Commercial Road, or visit the MRC Tas stall at the Fair.

Please advise our Events & Marketing Coordinator, Emma Gilligan - egilligan@friends.tas.edu.au - or Director of Community Engagement, Bill Avery - bavery@friends.tas.edu.au - if you have any queries.

Bike Safety

Please be aware that there are many students who ride to and from the School.  As we approach Ride To School Day (20 March), take extra care to be aware of riders and pedestrians around our roads.

All bike riders are reminded to walk bikes over the overpass and along walkways on the school campus.

Middle School Donation Drive

The Middle School Student Voice Council are holding their first Donation Drive for the Year, supporting the Books and Boots campaign.

Books and Boots facilitates the donation of pre-loved and new books and football boots to children in remote areas of primary school-age Australia. As such, the Student Voice Council is asking for donations of children's picture books and football boots to be re-distributed to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities nationally.

We are looking for donations of new or gently used picture books for children between the ages of 0-8. Please see the donation guide about what we can and can’t accept.

We are also seeking clean football boots for all ages. Are you a member of a football club? Are you able to organise a larger collection of used boots to donate?

House donation tubs  in the Middle School library from Weeks 6-9 to collect Books and Boots, or simply drop off to the Middle School Office (with your House written on the donation!) The House with the most donations wins points towards the House Cup!

For more information about the campaign, or any questions you might have, contact Essie Hoggart, House Leader - Middle School  (ehoggart@friends.tas.edu.au).

Quaker Meetings for Worship

All members of The Friends’ School community are welcome to attend our Meeting for Worship any Sunday from 10.00am, closing about 11.00am, with morning tea available afterwards.

Children are always welcome and there is a Children’s Meeting held concurrently with the Meeting for Worship. They learn about Quaker values through a range of interesting and fun activities. Around 10.50am the children join the Meeting for Worship, settling into the gathered Meeting for the last 10 minutes, usually sitting with their parents.

If you have any enquiries about the Children’s meeting please email the Clerk, Margaret Bywater, rmtasclerk@quakersaustralia.info
