Grade 3 Camp
A reminder that our camp information session is taking place on Zoom this Wednesday 25th March at 4:00pm, a link will be emailed to all families and a recording will be available after the session should you not be able to make it at that time.
Please note any outstanding medical forms must be returned by Friday this week to allow us time to follow up any additional information we require.
Students have now seen the camp video from last year and have participated in some discussions about camp, there is also a social story available for viewing on Showbie which may help nervous campers feel more at ease and provide helpful visuals and information about what to expect at camp.
Open Walkthrough at Camp
The wonderful people at Mount Evelyn Discovery Camp are hosting a walk through during the school holidays which is a valuable opportunity for students and families to visit camp before the big day especially nervous campers.
Date: Monday 13th of April, 2026
Time: 5:30pm – 6:30pm
Location: Mt Evelyn Discovery Camp - 70 Tramway Road, Mt Evelyn, 3796
This relaxed, no-pressure event is the perfect chance for both students and parents to explore the campsite, meet our friendly team, and get a real feel for what camp is all about – before the adventure begins.
Whether you're feeling excited or a bit nervous, visiting the site, seeing where everything happens, and asking any questions can make all the difference in building comfort and confidence ahead of camp.
Come along for a guided tour, a few laughs, and a sneak peek at all the fun and learning that awaits.
If you could please share the below link on your compass platforms for parents to register to give us an idea on how many people will be attending that would be greatly appreciated.

CBL
Students have been working towards being known as a cohort for our kindness through intentional small actions and words every day as part of our community focus. This week we are beginning to work on our challenge. Our students will be making a mini book which we will deliver to a Burch Memorial Kinder student that they have been matched with. On April the 1st students will walk through the Wonga Park Community spotting different community group locations along the way and deliver their books to the kinder. They will continue to build on this connection throughout the year with further visits to the kinder when they will meet their kinder kid in person.
To support your child at home you could ask them what small, kind actions they have been trying to enact each day at school and how they have benefited themselves and others.
Literacy
This week we will be reading The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind, which tells the inspiring story of a teenager from Malawi in Africa who built a windmill from recycled materials. He worked to harness wind power to provide irrigation for his village. Students will explore character development and connect this story to our big idea of Community, focusing on how creative problem solving can benefit both others and ourselves.
To support your child at home you could research how wind power works and discuss how windmills generate electricity.
Writing
Students will continue to work on poetry this week consolidating their understanding of structure and features of poems. They will create their own poems after exploring poem structure of high quality poems utilising rhyming dictionaries to assist them in finding appropriate rhyming words that fit the themes of their poems.
To support your child at home you could help them brainstorm ideas for their own poems by discussing topics they enjoy or experiences they’ve had.
Maths
Grade 4 students will be working on multiplication and division while grade 3 students begin a sequence on addition and subtraction.
To support your child at home, please encourage them to utilise Mathletics. Your child has been assigned tasks that align with their learning at school and help to consolidate and practise their skills. You could also practise basic facts regularly (e.g. times tables or addition/subtraction facts) to build fluency.
Kitchen Garden
