QGSSSA Artistic Gymnastics Championships

Clayfield College is proud to host the QGSSSA Artistic Gymnastics Championships at the PE Centre on Tuesday 31 March, as our gymnasts prepare to take centre stage in one of the most anticipated events on the QGSSSA sporting calendar.

 

Following a strong showing in 2025, the team returns with confidence and determination, ready to once again perform across all apparatus; floor, bars, beam and vault. 

 

The Championships provide an opportunity to showcase not only technical precision and strength, but also the composure and artistry that define the sport at this level.

 

With leading schools from across the QGSSSA competition in attendance, the standard promises to be high and the competition fierce. As hosts, Clayfield looks forward to creating an outstanding event environment while supporting our athletes as they perform on home ground.

 

We wish our gymnasts the very best as they represent the College with pride, discipline and excellence.

Senior School Boys Sport

BBI Club Basketball

The BBI Club Basketball summer season has wrapped, and it was a campaign defined by growth, grit and composure under pressure.

 

Under the guidance of coaches Mitch Hayward, Brodie Meis, and Brooke White, Clayfield’s teams took on strong opposition week after week, delivering hard-fought wins and continuing to build confidence and cohesion on the court. But beyond the scoreboard, it was the character of the group that stood out, being humble in victory, resilient in challenge, and unwavering in their support of one another.

 

After three years of steady development, the U18 team has earned its place in the Grand Final, set to be played on Friday 27 March at BBI Auchenflower. It is a significant milestone for the program and a reflection of the commitment and progression of the group over time. All supporters are warmly encouraged to attend and get behind the team.

 

With the summer season drawing to a close, attention now turns to the Winter competition, with opportunities opening for boys in Years 7 to 10. 

 

Arana Club Touch Football – Grand Final Bound

It has been a strong season for Clayfield in the Senior Boys Arana Club Touch Football competition, with the College proudly fielding two U14 teams; Green and Blue, highlighting the continued growth and engagement within the program.

 

The U14 Green team has surged into the Grand Final, following a spectacular semi-final victory over Mavericks. Built on their understanding of the game, structure and sharp execution, the team delivered a composed performance when it mattered most, earning their place in the decider on Wednesday, 1 April.

Queensland School Futsal | 2026 VETO SPORTS LEAGUE

Clayfield’s 16 Years Futsal team took to the courts at Nissan Arena on Friday 20 March, competing in the Northern Conference against experienced school programs.

After weeks of preparation, the boys stepped into a high-tempo environment, embracing the challenge and gaining valuable match experience. The 14 and 16 Years squads now look ahead to Term 2 Gala Days, where they will continue to build on this foundation.

Rocky Trail Academy Mountain Biking

Clayfield riders took on the Rocky Trail Academy Schools Series event on Friday 20 March at Nerang Velodrome, stepping into a well-established national pathway for school-aged mountain bikers.

 

Racing on iconic local trails including the Shimano Bomber Track and Sendy Track, riders were tested across flowing single track, technical features and fast descents, demanding both control and confidence under pressure.

 

Following their familiarisation sessions, Clayfield riders embraced the transition into race conditions, demonstrating strong bike handling, composure and a willingness to take on the challenge of technical terrain.

 

It was a confident introduction to competitive mountain biking for some of our riders, with each rider showing courage, commitment and a readiness to push beyond their comfort zone in a high-quality racing environment.

Senior School Interhouse Cross Country Championships

The cross country season burst into life as Clayfield College students took on the Senior School Interhouse Cross Country Championships at Shaw Park.

On a newly designed course, runners were challenged from the outset, with unseasonably hot conditions adding to the demands of undulating terrain, tight turns and long straights, testing both endurance and grit. As the morning unfolded, the course came alive with colour, cheers and unmistakable house pride.

From the front pack to the final finishers, every athlete contributed to a day defined by effort and spirit. Whether chasing points or personal bests, the commitment across all year levels was evident, with house rivalry adding another layer of intensity to the competition.

Queensland Athletics State Championships

Clayfield College celebrates the achievements of our athletes who have progressed through the Queensland Athletics State Championships, earning selection to the next level of competition.

 

The following students have qualified for the Athletics Australia National Championships, to be held in Brisbane from Wednesday 15 April to Wednesday 20 April 2026:

  • Grace Hunter

 

Also competing at the State Championships, Xavier Hunter delivered an outstanding performance, narrowly missing the qualifying time in the 3000m while recording a 20-second personal best. He backed this up in the 1500m, producing another breakthrough run with a 10-second personal best, highlighting his continued progression and commitment to improvement.

 

Qualification for National Championships represents a significant achievement, recognising both performance and consistency at the highest level of school athletics. We congratulate all athletes on their efforts and look forward to supporting them as they prepare to take on the next stage of competition at the National 

Andrews Cup Touch Football | Metro Meet

Our Andrews Cup Touch Football team took to Windsor Park on Monday 23 March for their Metro Meet, gaining valuable match exposure ahead of next term’s competition.

 

The afternoon provided an important opportunity for players to apply their training in a game environment, with strong passages of play, quick footwork and developing combinations evident across all teams. Confidence continues to build within the group, with the experience setting a solid foundation as they prepare for their upcoming fixtures in Toowoomba.

Britton Shield Touch Football

Clayfield College proudly hosted the Britton Shield Touch Football competition at Shaw Park, bringing together teams from Ipswich Junior Grammar School (IJGS), Clayfield College and Brisbane Boys’ College (BBC) for a day of competitive match play.

Across the event, our players showcased strong teamwork, disciplined defence and increasing confidence in attack, displaying clear indicators of their development throughout the season. The standard of play and sportsmanship on display reflected the positive culture within the program.

Britton Shield Tennis

A strong Clayfield presence was on display at the inaugural Britton Shield Tennis competition, marking the first year the event has been offered to boys and the response was immediate, with an impressive 39 players taking to the courts.

 

In a day defined by energy, engagement and high-quality match play, Clayfield’s depth was on full display. Both the Red Ball and Green Ball teams finished first overall, underlining the program’s consistency, teamwork and growing strength across all levels.

 

The competition provided an outstanding platform for players to showcase their developing skills, with the significant uptake reflecting the continued growth and enthusiasm for tennis within the College.

 

A huge thank you to Lifetime Tennis for their unwavering support of both our Junior and Senior School programs. Their expertise and commitment continue to play a vital role in the development of our players.
