Catholic Education Week

Today, I had the pleasure and great joy of attending the Catholic Education Week Mass at St Patrick’s Cathedral, celebrated with Archbishop Peter and all MACS schools.

What was beautiful for me, was reflecting with the students, their highlight of the day was the Mass and the Cathedral. They also had the opportunity to hear bands, and play in  Treasury Gardens, but the Mass was their highlight.

It just shows the power of the Mass, beautiful traditional hymns and the connection built with others. Thanks to the ten students who attended for the reverence they displayed and the joy they embraced the occasion with.

Parent Teacher Interviews

Thanks to all the parents who came along to Parent Teacher Interviews. This partnership is critical to the success of your child. We are trying to be more precise with the information we provide, along with the intervention we provide. Intervention is a big word, which just means, provide teaching repeatedly about a specific goal. Whilst repetition is not always exciting, it is important for learning. For those that missed, we will be attempting to catch you soon.

Lunch Fox

We will be starting lunch orders through a company called Lunch Fox. They have an app and partner supplier Spoonful, who make excellent ready to eat dishes. This comes from the success of Subway, which will continue on Fridays. Lunch Fox will be on Wednesdays, but a letter will come home confirming all the details early next week.

Building

Whilst there have been some delays, the demolition work has begun, with the wall coming down next to the drive through. Once this work is complete, the work to rebuild commences!

Calm Classrooms

I have been very impressed with how the students have started the year. As this is the last newsletter of the term, it is important to celebrate this! We have lifted our expectations of the students and what we expect of them. This is important to do to ensure that they have high expectations of themselves. Visitors to our school always comment on the calm classrooms, which is assisted by having our lead teachers work in addition to the classroom teacher. We should celebrate their effort though, because we have noticed that students are more willing to be a little uncomfortable with the challenges they take on.

Principal’s Conference

This week, I will attend the Victorian Catholic Primary Schools Principals conference. Being a Principal these days is a tremendous privilege, but multi faceted. This conference provides opportunities for us to hear from experts in other fields of marketing, communication, leadership and allied health professionals, to ensure we can support our students and staff effectively.
