Representative Basketball Honours for Claire Wu

Congratulations to Year 6 student Claire Wu, who recently represented IPSHA at the CIS Basketball Championships. Claire’s journey to the championships began at the competitive IPSHA trials, where she was selected from a pool of 32 talented players, including our own Katherine Rhee and Lexi Ogane. 

We are incredibly proud of Claire for reaching this high level of competition and look forward to seeing her basketball journey continue to flourish.

IGSA SWIM

Kambala’s swim team delivered a determined and spirited performance at this year’s IGSA Swim Carnival, with all 26 girls representing the school with pride and commitment.

The team’s hard work in the lead up to the event paid off, with many swimmers achieving personal best times on the day. Their enthusiasm and support for one another created a positive team environment, both in and out of the pool. The team loved having the Year 8 cohort come out to cheer them on. Their support was very much appreciated.

Kambala finished 10th overall, an improvement from last year’s result and a reflection of the team’s steady progress. The girls' effort, resilience, and sportsmanship were evident throughout the competition.

Tildesley Shield 2026

The Tildesley Shield once again showcased the very best schoolgirl tennis, bringing together top players from 26 schools for three days of high-quality competition from Wednesday 18 to Friday 20 March.

Kambala’s team entered the prestigious tournament well prepared, having trained consistently throughout the year with this event as their key focus. Their dedication and commitment were evident across all matches as they competed with determination against an exceptionally strong field.

The hard work paid off, with Kambala finishing in an impressive third place overall. It is a remarkable achievement given the calibre of talent on display and reflects the strength and depth of the team.

Head Coach Amanda Tobin has once again played a pivotal role in the team’s success. Her guidance and expertise have helped the players perform at their best, contributing to another outstanding result at one of the most competitive events on the school sporting calendar.

Tildesley Captains Arabella Bugden and Mila Duchen once again lead by example, playing exceptionally well and supporting the team throughout the event.

Piper Sweeny Shines at Aquathlon Championships

Last week, Piper Sweeny competed at the School Sport Australia Triathlon and Aquathlon Championships in Queensland, taking part in both the individual Aquathlon and the relay event.

In another outstanding performance Piper achieved remarkable success earning medals in both events. She secured an impressive 3rd place in the individual race and claimed 1st place as part of the relay team.

Touch Grand Finals and Best and Fairest

On Saturday 21 March the sun was shining for the Touch Grand Finals, creating the perfect setting for an exciting day of competition. We had six teams playing in the Grand Final which was a fantastic achievement.

Of those six teams, two were crowned premiers: Kambala 3 and Kambala 5. Congratulations to both teams on their outstanding performances.

Teams who played in Grand Finals: Kambala 1, Kambala 3, Kambala 5, Kambala 7, Kambala 12 and Kambala 14.

A huge well done to all players, coaches, and supporters for their effort and commitment throughout the season.

Easts Touch also awards a Best and Fairest player in each division, based on referee nominations from the round games. Kambala was proud to have three players recognised with this honour. Congratulations to Ivy Aboud, Lola Joffee, and Charlene Goh on their well-deserved awards.

Archery Champion

Felicity Wang Year 8 won the gold medal in the Under 14 Female Recurve division at the NSW State Field Archery Championships, held at Illawarra Archery Club on 21–22 March. This was a two-day World Archery Arrowhead Field event.

Felicity has now been selected for the NSW State team for the Australian Youth National Archery Championships, to be held in Launceston, Tasmania, from 9 to 13 April 2026. She will represent NSW competing across the full program of disciplines in the Under 14 Female Recurve division, including the 900 Round, Field, 720 Ranking Round and Matchplay.
