From the Principal

This term has certainly been a full and lively one. It’s hard to believe that just a short time ago, in late January, we were greeting our new families at the Kambala Welcome Cocktail Party. Since then, it has been wonderful to see parents and carers connecting and strengthening our sense of community, with invaluable support from the Kambala Parents’ Association. It has also been heartening to watch new friendships and connections grow across all year levels—many of which our girls will carry with them long after they finish Year 12.  

Term 1 is a dynamic term as new routines are established and the desire for lifelong learning habits are formed. We give thanks to our teaching staff, especially those new to us, who consistently deliver best practice and inspire our girls to have a sense of self and to be good people of good character. A highlight of the term was the commencement of the works for the Multi-Purpose Auditorium and Sports Precinct, a space that will benefit our current students and generations of Kambala girls to come. This facility will be the heart of our community, a place where learning, wellbeing and sport come together. We look forward to keeping you up to date with the progress of the works. 

This term has been filled with a range of memorable events, highlighted by the 2026 Festival of Music. Our Kambala community enjoyed watching students from Years 5–12 take to the stage at the Sydney Opera House, performing with such enthusiasm and confidence. What a privilege it was to experience such an impressive showcase in a world-renowned venue. We extend our sincere thanks to Mr Gene Clark, the Music faculty, and all of our students for creating an evening of truly exceptional entertainment. Congratulations once again to Gurney for securing the 2026 title.

Our students have continued to excel across a wide range of sporting pursuits. A standout achievement was our performance at the IGSA Tildesley Tennis Tournament, where we placed third in New South Wales—an exceptional result. This accomplishment is particularly impressive given that we do not offer tennis scholarships and are a mid-sized girls’ school.

In addition, both the Junior and Senior swimming carnivals were successfully held, along with the cross-country events, which saw enthusiastic participation and strong school spirit across all year levels.

I hope everyone is able to enjoy a well-earned break over the upcoming school holidays, spending quality time with family and friends. It’s an important opportunity to pause, recharge, and reflect, so we can return in Term 2 feeling refreshed, focused, and ready for the term ahead.

As we reflect on the beginning of 2026, there is so much to celebrate at Kambala. Thank you to each of you for your commitment and the role you have played in creating such a positive and successful start to the year.
