Year 9 exams are a fantastic opportunity for students to familiarise themselves with exam protocols and requirements ahead of their senior school years. These exams not only allow students to demonstrate their knowledge and skills but also serve as a valuable learning experience as they prepare for the demands of the future.
To ensure that students are fully supported and have an opportunity to prepare effectively, the structure of the exam days will be slightly adjusted. This includes some changes to the usual class schedule, allowing students more time to focus on revision or rest between exams. Please take a moment to familiarise yourself with the updated timetable, which is included below, so that you can be well-prepared for the adjustments on these days.
Additionally, if there is any supervision required for students during Period 5 on Monday or Wednesday, please do not hesitate to reach out to Adam Given to coordinate.

On the 11th hour of the 11th day in the 11th month, 1918 at 11am, an armistice between the great European powers was signed, ultimately bringing the First World War to an end. 416,809 male Australians aged 18-44 enlisted for service in the First World War. 264,000 of these people came home with visible and invisible scars. A minutes silence on this day is held in remembrance of the men and women who served in the First World War, and in any subsequent conflicts.
On Remembrance Day, students from the Year 8 leadership team accompanied by Mr Cole and Ms Watson attended a service held at Ringwood clocktower. We were given the honour of laying the wreath on behalf of Norwood Secondary College.

On November 12, we had the pleasure of welcoming the 2025 Year 7 students and their families to Norwood for their first introduction to our school community. It was a truly heartwarming evening, with over 500 people in attendance. A special highlight of the night was hearing from Summer M and James C, who shared their personal experiences and reflections on their first year at Norwood. Their speeches were inspiring and provided invaluable insight for the incoming students, showing them what to expect as they begin their own journey with us.
The evening was made possible thanks to the incredible support of our 2025 leaders, who generously volunteered their time to assist with various tasks. Their efforts in helping with parking and distributing programs were much appreciated and ensured the event ran smoothly. It’s clear that these leaders are already setting an example for the next generation of Norwood students.
Our next opportunity to meet and connect with the 2025 cohort will be on December 10, during the statewide transition day. We look forward to seeing everyone again and continuing to build on the excitement and anticipation for the year ahead.
Year 7 students embarked on a unique leadership development project designed to build teamwork, communication, and leadership skills.
Over the last two weeks, students had been preparing to teach a new skill to their peers as part of a whole year level event on November 13.
I loved heading around to see some of this in action with students teaching various cooking skills, origami, Rubik's cubes and many more. This experience has not only built confidence and leadership abilities but has also foster a sense of community as students work together to share knowledge and new experiences.
