On Wednesday 16th October, students in Year 6 took part in a Confirmation Reflection day, after sitting the Archdiocese Religious Education Test. The students participated in a variety of activities, experiences, and reflective sessions that helped them consider the importance of the Sacrament of Confirmation in their daily lives and how they can apply the gifts of the Holy Spirit as they transition into high school. Each student in Year 6 had the opportunity for personal prayer, spiritual development and a deeper understanding of their role of living as a witness and disciple of Christ.
Some Year 6 students wrote a few words about their special day:
I really enjoyed the reflection day as it was a day full of learning about the gifts and the fruits of the Holy Spirit. We learned about how we should use them in our everyday lives. This day was an amazing experience for all of us to reflect on as we step into a new chapter of our life moving into high school. We made amazing memories that we will forever cherish and treasure about the beliefs of our faith and the teachings of the Church. This one day has strengthened our faith and inspired us to become more like Jesus. It taught us to always be yourself and to never change the way or be ashamed of becoming like Jesus.

Reflection day was a great experience for not only the students but for the teachers as well. We were taught about the gifts of the Holy Spirit as well as the fruits of the Holy Spirit. We weren’t just taught about the gifts but were told how to use the gifts in our everyday lives. It was an experience we will never forget that taught us life lessons that will help us not only now but in the future as well. It was a calming experience that allowed us to realise how great God really is and how grateful we should be. All students took what was said to heart and took this opportunity to truly understand what Jesus called us to do. This lesson was very inspirational to all of us as we listened to the teachings of Christ and how we must live a good Christian life. We cherished every moment in this lesson and felt proud to have been able to be a part of this awe-inspiring lesson. I am very grateful to have been apart of this and I am also very grateful that the teachers gave us this experience.

November is dedicated to the Faithful Departed, those who have gone before us marked with the sign of faith, awaiting the glory of the Resurrection. In particular, November 2nd is All Souls Day. On this day, many people celebrate their loved ones who have passed away in various ways. This could mean visiting the cemetery, lighting a candle at mass in honour of them or cooking a meal that creates a memory of that special someone. To honour and remember all the special people who have left us, we will be having a candlelight procession on Monday 4th of November at 6:30 pm. You are invited to pause and take a moment of silence for the departed. More information regarding the candlelight procession will be on Compass early next week.
Throughout this term, grade masses will be taking place at 9:15 am. These masses are prepared and organised by classroom teachers. Parents and parishioners are welcome to attend these celebrations and join us in prayer.
