Celebration of the Arts

Celebration of the Arts 2024

Celebration of the Arts 2024 is just one week away. We hope that you are as excited as we are. Here are a couple of important reminders from Chantel and Tanya;

  • Costumes are to be brought into school no later than Monday 21st October, ready for a whole school dress rehearsal Tuesday 22nd October. Please make sure all elements are clearly labelled. Teachers will return them after the dress rehearsal on Tuesday ready for the performance on Thursday.

  • Mat Gdantz is organising the filming on the night. Because the event is more drama focused, we are looking for people to support him as we will need more cameras to capture all the action across the wide stage. It will involve being around the performance area for four 15–20-minute blocks throughout the night. From 5.15pm to around 8.15pm. Please email Chantel or Tanya if you can support with this.

  • Due to the building works the Art Show will be set up in the pavilion. If you are available after school on Monday to help transport the work over to the space, please let Chantel know.

  • We also need volunteers Thursday morning to help set up the stage and Friday after pick-up to pack up the Art Show. Please let Chantel know if you can help.

Chantel and Tanya can be contacted on chantel.jose@education.vic.gov.au and tanya.sleeman@education.vic.gov.au

This will be taking place on Thursday 24th October from 5pm - 8pm.

For those new to the school, COTA is one of the best traditions of our school and an amazing showcase of our school value of Creativity and the amazing learning that takes place in our Performing and Visual Arts programs.

Each year the event has a theme and this year this is 'Odyssey' - with all of the artwork, performances and learning inspired by ancient mythology and the stories and sagas of the Greeks, Romans, Egyptians, Celts and Vikings.

Rather than a traditional school performance, the evening becomes a whole-school social event with food stalls, an art show (this year in the Parks Victoria pavilion due to ongoing building works) and a chance to connect with other families. During the evening there will be musical, dance and drama performances featuring every student.

To help you plan your evening, please see below the performance times for each class and when we will require students to arrive to get ready to perform.

Students are asked to organise a basic costume for their performances and details of each class' requested costume can be found on the letters below;
