Around the Classrooms
Year 1/2L
The Year 1 and 2 students in 1/2L have jumped right back into learning this term.
We have begun our inquiry topic ‘Exploring the Seasons: A Year-Round Adventure’ and are pondering our essential question of ‘How are living things affected by changes in seasons?’
We were excited to learn about the Earth and how its’ rotation and orbit create night, day and seasons. We couldn’t believe that the earth does not stop rotating, we can’t even feel it spinning. We also learnt how the Earth is split into two hemispheres separated by the equator - an invisible line around the middle of the Earth. Australia is in the Southern Hemisphere and other countries like Germany, India and Canada are in the Northern Hemisphere.
In Reading and Writing, we are focussing on a different season each week. We create our own glossary definitions, facts, and posters and present our posters to a partner and a small group. We focus on our voice projection, pronunciation and eye contact with the audience.
We are looking forward to our jam-packed term ahead and making the most of all our learning opportunities.
