STAGE 2 NEWS:

Hello wonderful Martin’s Gully community!

How quickly time is flying by in Stage 2!  We have been hard at work in the Bilbies and the Wombats, learning, growing and beginning to prepare for the end of the year.

In English this term, Stage 2 are so lucky to be supported by Mrs Williams and Mrs Deiderick, and so far we have been doing fabulous work on poetry.  We learnt all about figurative language, like similes, metaphors and personification, to paint beautiful pictures with our words for our readers.

I can feel grainy sand on my feet as I walk to the ocean - Leo

I can sense the heart of the Earth beating once more - Xanthe

The flowers have bloomed and a slight breeze hits like a baby breathing - Emalie

The thunder roars like a lion across the dry savannah - Greyson

I hear beautiful songs that snake through nature, finding each other in the now rich land - Olivia

…the fire sounds like a whip when it cracks - Ryder

In Maths this term, we have been learning about fractions and decimals. The Stage 2 teachers were absolutely blown away by how much the Bilbies and the Wombats have learned throughout the year; they have grown so much!

This week we started learning about multiplication and division in relation to area.  Today during our transition day, we practised our maths skills with a game of Multiplication Toss.  Our amazing Year 3 Learning Leaders then worked with a Year 2 buddy to estimate the areas of leaves.

In PE this term, we have been learning some very interesting skills! The Wombats have done circus skills with Miss Landow and European Handball with Mrs Townsend, and the Bilbies have done dance with Miss Randall and Ultimate Frisbee with Mrs Bull.  We will continue rotating this term until everyone has done each sport.  We are also loving participating in the Swimming Scheme this term!

Last Thursday, everyone came dressed in their best and spookiest Halloween costumes. Everyone looked scarily good!
