Catholic Identity

Year of Prayer
In preparation for the Jubilee next year Pope Francis has declared this year as the ‘Year of Prayer’. Prayer is an integral part of who we are as Catholic School Communities. Opportunities for prayer allow all to encounter and build their relationship with God.
“Experiencing the unconditional love of God is what prayer, in the end, is all about.”
Ron Rolheiser
October- Month of the Holy Rosary
The month of October is dedicated to the Holy Rosary, one of the best known of all Catholic devotions. During the month of October, we are all encouraged to pray the Rosary. Students are invited to bring in their own Rosary beads that they have at home, or purchase a set from the school office for $1.00. Classes will be praying the Rosary during this month. You may wish to pray the Rosary at home as a family also.
Sacrament of Reconciliation - Year 2
Next Thursday 31 October, Year 2 students who have enrolled will make the Sacrament of First Reconciliation (Penance) in the Parish Church with Fr Patrick and the Year 2 teachers at 9:30am. Parents are welcome to attend!
Please note all enrolments were due last weekend - 19/20 October. Please contact the parish office if required.
St Francis of Assisi Liturgy
Last Monday 14 October, the school community celebrated the Feast of St Francis of Assisi in the church. St Francis is the patron saint of ecology.
Thank you to the parents and family members who were able to attend. Congratulations to all the students (one from each class) who were awarded the annual St Francis of Assisi Award for their stewardship for God’s creation.
Isla H, Franklin R, Hunter M, Josie M, Josie W, Noah S, Theo D, James A, Grace M, Zarli M, Cooper O, Zoe C, Chase L, Samuel R and Mrs Riley (Mrs Gallagher accepted on her behalf).
A lovely acknowledgement of their efforts in caring for our common home - God’s creation. Well done!
St Francis of Assisi Prayer
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.
O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen.
Catholic Mission Month
Crazy Sock Day - Friday 8 November
The Theme for Catholic Mission Month is ‘Go and Invite Everyone to the Banquet’. This term students will learn about issues of mission and justice in Religious Education lessons. During Catholic Mission Month (October) SJB school community will work together to ‘Sockit to Poverty’. On Friday 8 November students will be invited to wear crazy socks to school with their school uniform and donate a gold coin to Catholic Mission. On this day students will participate in ‘Kicking Goals for Good’ soccer activities. Thank you for your support of Catholic Mission 2024
