Principal's Page

Dear Parents and Friends,

Tomorrow, Friday 25 October, we celebrate World Teachers' Day.A special opportunity to thank our amazing educators for their passion, dedication, and tireless efforts.

We thank our teachers for:

  • Inspiring young minds and fostering a love of learning.
  • Supporting students with patience and care through every challenge.
  • Creating safe, nurturing environments where every child feels valued.
  • Being role models, demonstrating that learning is a lifelong journey.

At St Joseph's Bulli, we are deeply grateful for the commitment and excellence our teachers demonstrate every day. They are shaping the next generation of thinkers and leaders with a foundation grounded in our Catholic values. This Friday, let us all take a moment to reflect on and appreciate the wonderful work our teaching team does to guide our children on their faith and learning journeys.

To support and celebrate World Teachers' Day in NSW NESA is inviting school communities to participate in identifying teaching gems in NSW. A gem is a teacher or educator in NSW who is important to you

A message from our School Captains

Tomorrow, we celebrate World Teachers’ Day to acknowledge our teachers' dedication and effort to make our learning fun and challenging. We are so lucky to have a school community with kind, caring and passionate teachers we can trust. In our seven years at St Joseph's, our teachers have been nurturing and dedicated to our education and faith from the very first day!  We acknowledge their hard work and endless hours organising every lesson, carnival, liturgy, and school event or excursion. On behalf of SJB students, we want to say thank you!

In addition to celebrating our teachers, we are thrilled to welcome back Mrs. Duffin after her well-deserved break and travels. We are excited for her return and look forward to her leadership, wisdom, and energy. Mrs. Duffin’s presence and is a blessing to our school community, and we know she will continue to guide us all with her unwavering dedication and vision.

All Saints Day and All Souls Day

Next week is a significant week in the church’s calendar as we remember all those who have gone before us. Most Rev Peter W Ingham wrote a beautiful reflection on the Christian significance of these days.

He stated the following:

“Halloween is growing in popularity but its roots are lost on most people. It is observed on 31 October, the "een" or "eve" of All Hallows Day (All Saints Day) on 1 November. "Hallow” occurs in the Lord's Prayer – "hallowed be thy name" (may God's name be held holy) – so to celebrate Halloween without connecting it to All Saints Day would be like celebrating Christmas Eve without a Christmas Day.

All this reminds us, despite our modern day individualism, of the unbelievable connections we have in the family of God – on earth, in purgatory and in heaven. So these days of Halloween, All Hallows (All Saints), All Souls celebrate what we believe and name the “Communion of Saints.”

As a Catholic school community, students will learn about All Saints Day in their classrooms with a Liturgy led by their teachers. On Friday 1 November, students in Years 3-5 will attend Parish Mass. Families and friends are most welcome to attend!

Formation of Classes for 2025

The process for forming classes for 2025 will soon begin. Teachers have a very good understanding of their students, their learning, and their social and academic needs and strengths. They spend a great deal of time considering the placement of each student with grade partners.

Included with this newsletter is St Joseph’s formation of classes policy. Please take time to read the policy as it will provide you with an understanding of the process.

At times, there may be extenuating circumstances where parents may make a request regarding class placement.

It is not appropriate to make a request for your child to be with their friends or your preferred teacher. Teachers will ensure your child is placed with a friend.

All requests regarding a child’s placement should be in writing and addressed to the Principal.

Whilst parental requests are considered, there is never a guarantee that they will be granted. Please be aware that there may be circumstances surrounding requests that prevent them from being granted.

Class teachers nominate students for Blue Merit Awards which are presented at the weekly assembly.  When five Blue Merit Awards have been received, students send them to the school office to be recorded and are then eligible for a Principal’s Award. When students attain their 4th Principal Award, they are awarded a Principal’s Medallion at an assembly. End of Term awards can be included as part of the 5 awards.  Please see the "School Handbook" for a full list of eligible awards.
