Teaching and Learning
Dear Families
RE NDIS External Provider Provision on Site.
Woodville Gardens School B-6 is a site with a varied and complex clientele of students and families. For the past several years we have done our utmost to accommodate service provision of selected NDIS and non-DfE services on site to support student learning and access. We have done this at the request of families who cannot accommodate these services at home.
However, over the last 12 months, the number of requests for NDIS or non-DfE providers to work on site during teaching and learning has increased exponentially, and we do not feel we are in a position to both support NDIS suppliers to work on site, ensure direct line of site as required by DfE and at the same time provide consistent access for teaching and learning.
The administrative processes needed to ensure duty of care and compliance for NDIS providers on site has resulted in increased administrative workloads for site staff, taking them from other critical duties.
Whilst we support NDIS programs that support our students learning, we will not be continuing with the current model for service providers in 2025. We are bringing this to your attention now, so that both providers and families can make alternate arrangements for the scheduling of NDIS services outside of school.
Students in the Special classes may be considered outside of this decision. There is also an opportunity to hire a room out of school hours, where therapy can be provided, however please note a parent/guardian MUST be present at all times.
As with our current processes, any contact to request on-site services with NDIS should come from families, rather than directly from providers.
All requests for on-site service in 2025 under this modified process will therefore be redirected to families/carers.
Thank you for your understanding,
