Meet the 2025 School Captains
Name: Jayesh Mohan
If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
I would like to have the ability to teleport, who really needs to walk ? And as someone once said work smarter not harder, and so why walk or take PTV when you could just teleport places. Also imagine being able to go to Switzerland, France, and America all in one day, that would actually be amazing. It would be so fun and I would also be able to go literally anywhere.
Favourite food: Zinger Box 🤌🤌
If you could only listen to one music artist for the rest of your life, who would it be?Ariana Grande
Favourite subject at school:
This is like asking a parent which child is their favourite, and so I love all my subjects the exact same amount (aside from methods)
What made you want to become a school captain?
I can't lie, I might be a professional Suzanne cory fan, and I truly care about our wonderful school and school community, and so to put it simply want this position because I care. I care about our school and believe in its mission, and to me caring and believing in something means you have a desire to help and contribute to it, which is why I wanted to be school captain.
As school captain I also want to be someone who is there for everyone, someone who is approachable, optimistic and happy and just someone that you can just have a convo with for whatever reason it may be. I hope to get to know all of you and wish everyone the best. Thanks.
Name: Rhianna Laguesma
If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
Telepathy - literally, reading minds. It would be insanely helpful in so many everyday situations, especially those that involve communication and decisiveness. Imagine, no more time wasted deciding where or what to eat - simply read your friends’ preferences and violà.
Favourite food: Ice cream. Any flavour. Anytime.
If you could only listen to one music artist for the rest of your life, who would it be?Bruno Mars - Literally the GOAT🐐 of the modern music industry. His charisma, talent, and passion truly resound through every song + his entire discography is timeless and undoubtedly my no1 choice at karaoke.
Favourite subject at school:
I think I love almost all my subjects equally, but I’d have to say Food studies (who doesn’t love free food).
What made you want to become a school captain? As someone I know once said, “cut the word count and make the words count,” so to keep it short and sweet, there were two main reasons why I applied to be a school captain:
First and foremost, I care deeply about the wellbeing of students. After seeing the impact of perfectionism, especially in our competitive environment, I felt compelled to act. Perfectionism and ambition are often divided by a thin line, and I want to use this platform to remove the stigma surrounding ‘failure,’ instead promoting it as a natural and necessary part of the learning process. Through facilitating campaigns that support holistic wellbeing, I hope to help students explore and excel in all facets of their potential.
Furthermore, I want to lead by example and encourage equal collaboration. The leaders I admire most embody authenticity, empathy, and compassion, inspiring others to do the same. My goal is to cultivate that same culture here, empowering leaders at all levels to develop their skills and enhance the student experience through a more supportive environment.
I’m incredibly grateful for this opportunity and honoured to be serving the school and its community alongside my fellow captains. I truly wish to make a difference, and I promise I won’t let you down :)
Name: Dinda Widya Murti
If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
Time manipulation - imagine if you could slow down, speed up or time travel?! There’d be more time to do absolutely anything I want. I can also see what happens in the future which would be cool.
Favourite food: Burritos.
If you could only listen to one music artist for the rest of your life, who would it be?
I would listen to Lauv on repeat because his songs are so versatile, no matter the situation, there's a song for it. 🕺
Favourite subject at school:
This is a hard one because I love the subjects that I do but it’s a toss up between accounting and business management. Hums subjects all the wayyyyyyyyyy 🔥
What made you want to become a school captain? After receiving so many opportunities at SCHS, I feel a strong desire to give back to our school community. I want to inspire those around me to engage in extracurricular activities, seize new opportunities, and become well-rounded students who can manage academic stress.
As vice captain, my primary goal is to alleviate the academic pressure we often face as high achievers by promoting a healthy balance between work and wellbeing. I plan to introduce initiatives that support your mental health and encourage student involvement, ensuring everyone feels valued and supported.
I am committed to being the leader you can count on—someone who listens, is approachable, and actively works to implement positive changes. And, of course, I promise to bring a good sense of humour along the way! I am truly grateful for the chance to represent all of you, and I assure you, you won’t be disappointed!

If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
Future sight - being able to see the possibilities of every interaction would be super helpful and also reduce the number of regrets I would have in life. Imagine if you could look into the countless possibilities that you could take every day and figure out exactly what you needed to do to achieve your dreams (like maybe becoming a rock star)?
Favourite food- Bánh xèo (sort of like a crispy vietnamese crepe) but specifically my Mum’s homemade ones.
If you could only listen to one music artist for the rest of your life, who would it be?Laufey - good vibes in any weather at any time. I mean who doesn’t like Laufey? She’s mastered a perfect balance between light-hearted and playful as well as ethereal stillness with each unique song. My current favourite is ‘Dreamer’! (I still actually don’t know how to properly pronounce her name, please send help).
Favourite subject at school:
Music!! Don’t get me wrong, I love each subject I take, but music has always been a core part of my life, in and outside of school (which is why you’ll find me in the T-wing 90% of the time). I play the guitar and piano if you didn’t know :D.
What made you want to become a school captain?
Giving back. Taking responsibility. Making a difference. These phrases are so simple yet hold such gravity and moral value to me. Because they’re what I sincerely believe in, and the driving motives of why I applied for, and strive to be, the best school captain I can be.
First of all, I need to recognise and acknowledge just how privileged and fortunate I am to be at such an amazing school with amazing staff, peers and facilities that have enabled me to grow as an individual. This role is a way of giving back to the community that has provided me so much.
Stepping into year 12, I think it’s about time that I challenge myself by taking responsibility. Something that is larger than my individual being, and greater than my own goals and desires. I also see a responsibility, of those with knowledge and insight, to share that wisdom (however cliche it may sound). When I was back in year 9, there were year 12s who went out of their way to help a young, bright-eyed kid, even amidst their busy schedules. And they probably don’t know how much they really helped me. Because I can assure you that the reassurance and lessons learnt from those with first-hand experience goes a really long way.
Of course, I cannot forgo mentioning my personal drive to make a difference - I mean, even though it may sound cheesy, we all really are the future generations. Us, and all those after us. So for all of the bright minds that pass through the school gates, each and every day, I hope to make the Suzanne Cory High School experience better, if only a little bit.
TL;DR- I hope to make the most of my captaincy, and wish everyone the best of luck for the remainder of the year!
2025 Captain's official first statement- Hello Suzanne Cory,
For those that don't yet know, we are your 2025 School Captains, and we are truly honoured to be given this responsibility. As the year comes to a close, we want to congratulate the graduating class of 2024 on their hard work and commitment, along with all the teachers who provided their guidance and support. It’s hard to believe that this year is already coming to an end, and we look forward to the next one - a year which we hope to help fill with happiness, wellbeing, and a sense of belonging at our beloved school.
As your 2025 School Captains, our goal is to promote holistic growth at Suzanne Cory High School. This means cultivating student growth in all domains, whether that be by encouraging participation in extracurricular events, joining clubs, playing on sports teams, participating in music ensembles, or attending school events. We also aim to provide more opportunities for advocacy, to make your voice heard in our school, empowering each of us to share ideas, contributing together to a vibrant and flourishing school community.
But why? To us, we believe these plans will build a strong sense of school pride and strengthen the close-knit family that is our school community, where everyone feels connected and supported, fostering a true sense of togetherness.
Beyond our primary goals as School Captains, we also want to be there for each and everyone of you - someone you can have a wacky conversation with or genuinely express your concerns. In short, we’re here for you. We want you to feel comfortable coming to us, as we strive to be uplifting and present, we will always be there to lend a helping hand. We’re excited to get to know each of you better, and hope our little introductions on this page are a step in the right direction for you to get to know us.
With that said, we look forward to the coming year - a year where we grow stronger, happier, and more united in whatever else we may become.
We wish you all the best with your imminent adventures and can't wait to meet all of you.Thank you.
