Stage 2 Writing
Like the Stage Three writers, Stage Two also used the Olympics as inspiration for their imaginative writing. They focused on ensuring the reader was hooked in from the start and gradually built tension all the way through their story to their exciting ending. There were some spectacular written texts. Here are just a few to enjoy:

Pose. Focus. Music! Nicole jumps on the first bar powerfully, as Nicole's dream just begins. "You've got this!" cheers Nicole's friends, knowing she can do it.
Nicole, a determined gymnast, is the only sporty one in her entire family. She daydreams all day of becoming one of the most famous Olympians in the world. Never had her family encouraged her and even told her that her sporting dream could come true. However, her parent's words never stopped her from her dream.
In preparation for the Olympics, she went to the gym daily and ate very healthy. Every day she went to the gym twice for more than two hours and went home. She came home tired and puffed and she never drank any soft drink ever. Her hard work was just enough to get her to Olympics.
As the music pours in the giant stadium, Nicole puts her hands above her head and smiles confidently. She finds herself jumping on the first bar and flipping her legs, moving rapidly. On her second flip, she accidentally, arches back and immediately stops as something aches in her back and stops her from flipping.
"Owww!" Nicole shrieks painfully, as she swings off the bar. Falling fiercely on the mat, Nicole grabs her back as she winces in pain. Her coach runs to Nicole quickly and helps her up.
"You've got this Nicole, forget the pain!" shouts her coach, believing she can do it. Nicole thinks about his positive words, she gets up and starts again. The crowd cheers loudly again as Nicole gets up.
Nicole nails five flips in a row doing perfect flips in the air. Her legs are as straight as a line. In the speed of light, everything flips around. A sharp pain hits her head. Her head spins, Her body wobbles.
"Woah," wails Nicole, wobbling around. Boos from the crowd spread as Nicole tries to manage a new flip. Her head hurts and her heart races inside her chest. She remembers her parent's words and herself training hard - now that dream is starting to fade. Gripping the bar hard, she shakes her thoughts away and smiles confidently. She starts again to prove her parents wrong.
As Nicole jumps on the bar, she calculates if she can reach. Uneven. How was she supposed to jump so far? When she was about to attempt the jump, an idea flows through her mind. Nicole jumps down. Her hands reach the bar. As she does one more flip, her body springs off the bar powerfully to the next bar. Is she going to make it? Nicole thrusts her arms ahead reaching to the next bar. Time is running low. Without thinking, Nicole pushes forward and quickly does a triple back flip and sticks it with a neat landing. Her coach falls of his chair. She swings her head around to the judges. Silence. Suddenly, the crowd cheers in excitement.
"Silver goes tooo...Nicole!" shouts the judge. Her coach runs to her jumping around. "This is definitely going to make it to the headlines!" shouts her coach. Nicole feels something lifting her up. Her teammates are so proud of her. The crowd begins chanting her name. "Nicole! Nicole!" Nicole smiles and runs to her parents. She knows she won't ever give up, even if people are holding her down her down.
