Committee4Wagga School Leaders Program

Congratulations to our Year 11 students, Lily Stansfield-Smith, Kade Lyons, Issy Edmunds and Sophie Williams who recently celebrated their graduation from the Committee for Wagga School Leaders Program at Magpies Nest.

Each participant was able to highlight the benefits they gained from being part of the program including facing and overcoming the fear of public speaking, the important role each individual plays as part of a team and the discovery of their personal leadership skills.

Tomorrow Man and Tomorrow Woman

On Tuesday 25 June, we were fortunate to host the team from Tomorrow Man and Tomorrow Woman. Year 10 students worked through a series of programs focusing on the pressures that arise from gender stereotypes. They workshopped activities that will help them to grow emotional literacy and build a deeper connection and empathy with their peers. The message of the day was to help young people develop the skills needed to better look after themselves and others, and to guide them to make better choices.

Homegroup Attendance

Homegroup is an important part of the school day. Time is requisitioned for prayer, daily notices, organisation, community initiatives, and academic care and wellbeing. A good example of a community initiative is our current pushup challenge, which raises awareness about the positive impact of physical exercise on mental health.

Homegroup begins each morning at 8:45 am and it is vital that students arrive at the College prior to this time. From the beginning of Term 3, students arriving late (after 8:45 am) will be required to make up lost time at recess or lunch. Students catching a bus that arrives after 8.45 am will be exempt from this process. We trust that students will use the holidays if necessary to organise transport that has them arrive at school on time. Any queries may be directed to the Assistant Principal, Mr Shaun Ellis.

Year 11 Senior Leadership Launch

Following Year 11 Reflection Day this coming Monday with Mr Chris Doyle from Karis Ministries, students will gather the following morning in the Marian Centre for the launch of their leadership process.

Year 11 students will be given some insight into the challenges and benefits of leadership. Our current Year 12 Captains will be available to answer any questions Year 11 may have about the application process and the roles and responsibilities of a captain.

Following this day applications open for students to apply for both House and College Captain positions for 2025 and close on Monday, 19 August (Term 3, Week 5).

Beanies for Brain Cancer

On Friday 5 July, students will be participating in Beanies for Brain Cancer Day to raise awareness for Brain Cancer.  Students are asked to  wear a beanie in recognition of the Mark Hughes Foundation.
