Year 8 Japanese students are finishing off their unit on Japanese Food which began at the beginning of the term. We took a more interactive approach to the topic this year and students have become confident in ordering a variety of dishes in varying amounts. Most students were able to demonstrate strength in this area in their summative assessment this term. Last week and this week, students have made rice balls, grilled rice balls (in soy sauce) and tried miso soup.
Year 9 elective students have been checking out various locations in Japan this term and learning to say where they want to go, what they want to do and what kinds of things they might find there. Students bravely presented in Japanese to their peers. Their language skills and confidence in using Japanese is increasing and students enjoyed videoing their pair conversations that they did for their assessment this term.
