There has been a great deal of news about fraud and non-compliance that results in the misuse of NDIS funds. The NDIA goal is to safeguard NDIS funds for participants so that the NDIS is there for Australians with disability when they need it. They want to make sure participants get the maximum benefit from their NDIS funds so that they can pursue their goals.
If you find that you have a provider who is suggesting some things that do not sit right with you, is asking you to claim invoices for supports that are different from those stated in your child's plan or that were not provided or intentionally doing the wrong thing, it is important to report this: https://www.ndis.gov.au/contact/report-suspicious-behaviour
It is vital that we are all alert to protect the NDIS funding so that it goes to supporting participants with a disability!
I understand that at the moment with the very long wait times to hear back from NDIS, especially for change of circumstances and plan reassessment requests, it is quite frustrating for families.
One of the best things to do if you have waited for quite a while without hearing anything is to lodge a complaint through a phone call to the NDIS National Call Centre is1800 800 110 or lodge it through your NDIS Portal. When making your complaint, it is important to be clear about the impact that the waiting is having.
If you would like to make the call with me or access it through your NDIS Portal, please contact me through the school office on 9725 4933 or email me: elizabeth.anderson@education.vic.gov.au and we will make a time to work together!
The NDIS welcome all feedback, and I am here to help you!!
There is also the NDIS Connection Desk available at local libraries - you do not need to make an appointment:
NDIS is running several online sessions to learn about changes to the participant journey -
