Last week the transition section embarked on school camp to Rubicon, Nayook campus. Rubicon is located in West Gippsland, Nayook on country that a number of First Nations cultural groups have strong connections to, including Gunai Kurnai, Wurundjeri and Bunurong.
Rubicon's values centre around Sustainable Futures, Shaped By Challenge, Building Community and Meaningful Experiences. While partaking in this 3 night, 4 day camp, students partook in activities such as rafting on the Yarra River, hiking in Noojee, high ropes courses, pottery and open-fire cooking. Students also experienced living and working together as a community through shared meals, reflection circles and assigned community jobs.
We're so proud of what the student's achieved throughout the week. We would like to thank the amazing staff at Rubicon and Croydon SDS for developing and facilitating the program. Well done, everyone. Here are some final reflections from our transition students.
"I feel happy for going to camp because I had fun with all the staff and students" - Declan Brookes
"I liked the high ropes course, the meals and sleeping" - Joel Baba
