Even though we are nearing the end of Term 2, there are many events and activities still to come for students and families over the next two weeks. Concluding exam week, Mid-Year Reports, Junior School Parent Teacher Interviews, Eisteddfod, Boarding Trials, VIBE Day, ICCES Winter Tour and the Curriculum Information Night and Subject Information Expo to name a few. I want to take time this week to highlight two of these events.
Mid-Year Examinations
This week students in years 7-11 have completed their Mid-Year Examinations. The College believes that examinations are an important part of student learning, and we work hard to ensure that students learn the skills and knowledge required to showcase their learning in an exam setting. In my first experience of examinations since university, I have been incredibly impressed by the dedication and focus of the students as they have undertaken study sessions, exam preparation and the exams themselves. It was wonderful to hear older students share advice and support with younger students to help them prepare for their first exam experience.
Curriculum Information Night and Subject Information Expo for 2025
In the final week of Term 2, current Year 7-11 students, parents and guardians are invited to attend the Curriculum Information Night and Subject Information Expo for 2025. There will be two presentations directed at different year levels and addressing the diverse needs of our learners.
In addition to these presentations, and a key part of the evening, is the Subject Information Expo, held in myPEC. Students and families will have the opportunity to speak with teaching staff about the subjects on offer, ask questions and consider their choices for subject offerings for 2025. The right subject selection is important because it enriches your understanding of the world but also equips you with a versatile skill set, making you adaptable to the different challenges that lie ahead. Each subject provides an opportunity for personal and intellectual development. It is a chance to have new experiences, embrace challenges, and approach learning with a positive mindset.
Following the evening, the Subject Selection Online Portal will be opened for students in Years 9 – 11 to begin to make their selections. Students in Year 7 & 8 will make their selections early in Term 3. Further information about the timelines for this process will be provided in Week 10. I look forward to seeing you on the night.
Congratulations to all the students on your considerable efforts this week with exams and I hope you are able to enjoy a well-deserved rest over the long weekend.
