Principal's Message

Mr Kyle Baggaley | Principal

Here we are at the end of Term 1 ready for the well-deserved term break. I am so grateful for the wonderful staff, students and families that make up The King’s College Community. We have been so blessed to have so many great opportunities and experiences throughout the term with so many more yet to come.

Two important announcements to share with The King's community are:

  • The King’s College is excited to partner with The St Phillip’s Teaching School to offer an innovative and authentic teacher training experience. | Read more here
  • I am pleased to introduce the new Youth Pastor at The King's Chapel, Melody Wittwer.  Melody will be running The King's Youth Friday night program.  Find out more here.

Last week we had the privilege of acknowledging Easter and the sacrifice made for us on the Cross.  For those of you unable to attend I encourage you to read below an outline of the Easter Service prepared by our Creative Arts team.

Easter: Broken But Better

This year, our Easter message is themed "Broken but Better".

Kintsugi is the art of camouflaging the adhesive and using a special lacquer dusted with powdered gold to reinstate the pottery pieces together.  Kintsugi is like a metaphor for life - we all experience difficulties and traumatic events in our lives. Applying kintsugi means being bold; rather than hiding the cracks and imperfections, we can find new perspectives and still live our lives.

At our Easter Chapel services last week, our students portrayed this message through the short skit, reminding us that no matter how broken we may be, God is ready to do His kintsugi work in our lives if we let Him bring us to wholeness by turning to Him, trusting Him and asking Him to forgive and complete us.

The angelic voices of our Primary Choir started the message by singing, "How Deep the Father's Love for us". Students from the Creative Club performed "Replace it with your love", a heartfelt song to seek God's help, followed by "You Say", a song that encourages us to live by how God sees us and made us be.  We also had a reflective time of worship as the music team led the college to declare in singing, "What the Lord has done in me".

The service ended with a celebratory song, "Broken and Beautiful" - a reminder to live with His power made perfect in weakness.

Jesus said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. ~ 2 Corinthians 12:9

On behalf of the staff at The King's College, we pray all our families a Happy Easter.    We will see you all back for Term 2 on Tuesday 16 April 2024.
