Flourishing Learners Leadership Day

Last Friday, Marcia Janky, Belinda Saville, Donne Anderton and I crossed over the Westgate Bridge and made our way to Geelong to attend a leadership day with our western colleagues. The day focused on research-based best practices and evidence-based models of learning and teaching.

We spent the day learning from and working with Dr Wendy Moore on explicit instruction to further deepen our understanding of cognitive science and learning, and how this informs classroom practices. The afternoon session was spent with Sara Wiggins from Classroom Mastery who guided us through developing a behaviour curriculum centred around our school values. We began this work last year as we developed school values and norms as a school community.

Our values are...

Kindness - We treat others as we would like to be treated.

Fairness - Our school is a place where everyone can be their best.

Justice - We do what is right by making good choices.

We have a number of other professional learning days with our Flourishing Learners Network and look forward to further deepening our knowledge to ensure best practice for all of our students at STM.

In partnership,

Danielle
