Level 1

Level 1

Our level 1 students are continuing to kick goals with their achievements and efforts. We have loved sharing the interests and hobbies of our VIPs and seeing how much they’ve grown since babyhood. We are very proud of their presentations.

Literacy

We are continuing with our Procedural texts, and the standards are improving. Students are becoming more familiar with the features of this text type and their presentation  is improving.  We have been learning how to recognise the author’s purpose and are using the PIE technique to do so. P for Persuade, I for inform and E for Entertain. We are able to sort books into these categories and use these skills to help us choose “good fit” books.

Numeracy

We are enjoying problem-solving tasks which challenge us to develop and trial a range of strategies to help us in our Maths work. We have been working on Place Value using a variety of materials such as MAB, a 100 chart, and bundling sticks.

Inquiry

The highlight of this week has been our excursion to Como House. We travelled by bus to Como House where we were able to tour a house which reflected what life was like in the past. Children were excited to play olden day games and try chores like washing clothes using a tub and a wash board. Our students made us very proud with the way they embraced the activities and their respectful behaviour.

Reminders

Three way conferences begin next week. We look forward to seeing you all.
