FOUNDATION

The Foundation students have had a wonderful Term 1! They have learnt and continue to represent the school values every day and show enthusiasm for learning.

In Literacy, we have been working hard to revise the sounds we already know and learn our new sounds – o, g, u, l, f, b, ai, and j through Jolly Phonics and fun crafts. Students are also becoming familiar with reading groups and building their teamwork and confidence with others in the class. They continue to practise the reading strategies Grapheme Grasshopper and Blendy Wendy and their letter formation in handwriting.

In Numeracy, we have been learning about volume, mass, capacity, and teen numbers. The students have enjoyed using various items to measure and weigh materials around the classroom. They are also beginning to understand numbers in the teens and using tens frames.

Buddies

The Foundation kids have formed amazing bonds with their buddies throughout the term and have done various activities together. The grade 6’s have been wonderful role models and the foundation students have enjoyed spending time with them (some even say it’s their favourite part of school).
