INFORMAL

After weeks of anticipation the day of our Year 10 Informal finally came around. With the theme being Under the Stars, many students came to the informal wearing their cozy pyjamas accompanied by glow-in-the-dark accessories. The night opened with the Nothing Stuck band performing, which left many of us hyped and excited for the rest of the night. The Nothing Stuck band was then followed by with a performance from our Principal Team which many of us also enjoyed.

We would love to thank both the bands for their amazing performances!! For the rest of the night, many of us danced to the music, even dancing to the Macarena and the Nutbush, and enjoyed the pizza, snacks, and ice cream that was provided. This night truly delivered the much-needed celebration and fun for all of us.

Prior to the Informal, it was our dedicated Informal committee that truly brought the night to life. The team first began by gathering information from the whole year level about what they wanted to see at their own Informal such as the theme and food. After collecting this information, we spent weeks planning and preparing to ensure this night was as successful as possible.

On behalf of everyone, we would like to thank this committee, consisting of Spencer Wu, Ria Anand, Abby Butterworth, Chloe Cooper, Maleesha Dharmadasa, Audrey Gelberg, Sonia Hentworth, Harley Karro, Joe Kee, Anthe Limogiannis, Demi Panagiotopoulos, Justine Pinn, Michael Scriva, Yeri SoungAnastasia Turner, Shiv Vyas, and Samhith Mikkilineni. We would also like to thank Mrs Fleming, Mr McCooke, Mrs Travitz as well as all the other teachers and the principal team for always supporting the informal committee and making this night as memorable as it was.

Truly, this night was full of fantastic experiences and memories that I’m sure many of us will cherish.

STUDENT TECH TEAM HOLIDAY WORK

Over the Term 1 holidays, some of our dedicated students who are a part of McKinnon’s Student Tech Team came to school to ensure that with the beginning of a new term, all technology around the school was ready to use. The Student Tech Team’s Holiday work is a few voluntary days where we undertake a variety of different projects including AV (audio visual) Audits around the school and assisting the IT team to get up to speed with any projects/work they need assistance with.

This work represents a great opportunity for the student technicians to gain IT experience and get involved with hands-on tech rollouts to be able to develop more IT experience and skills.

During these holidays, we held two sessions where the team predominantly focused on working at Main Campus, and in a short time, the team was able to conduct high-quality AV maintenance of the school by auditing every room around the campus to ensure every room was ready to use for another busy term.

We also completed some projects such as installing 30+ new iMacs in TO8 and preparing for the STT’s annual Basic Training Sessions. Without the help of the Student Tech Team, the IT team at McKinnon would have to spend weeks on these projects so on behalf of everyone, I would like to thank all the students who participated in this term’s holiday work. The efforts of the team are evidently invaluable for both the IT team and for our school. I can’t wait to see what the team gets up during the next holidays!
