8ELMS: AUGMENTED REALITY FOR PYTHAGORAS' THEOREM
Last term in Year 8 ELMS, students explored how to apply Pythagoras’ theorem for right-angle triangles to find unknown lengths inside three dimensional shapes.
Here you can see Nayuta Tsuchiya using an augmented reality model of a pyramid to explore the relationship between the dimensions of the shape and the unknown lengths within.
Students were able to use their geometric reasoning alongside the Augmented Reality model to see that calculating the diagonal along the base of the pyramid is a necessary first step to solving for the internal height of the pyramid.
