Baby News!!!

With Mrs Ahumada's permission.. I can announce!

Huge congratulations to Mrs Ahumada and her husband Luis on the arrival on their little boy Jasper Cohen Ahumada.

He was born on the 12th March weighing in at a healthy 3.940 kg (which is 8 Pound 13 ounces to all of us oldies).

Both Jasper and Mrs Ahumada are doing well and adjusting to life at home.

We are certainly looking forward to seeing Tiff and Jasper, when they visit.

Thank you to our parents, carers, aunts/uncles and grandparents who came to our Easter Community Morning.

I reiterate what Mrs Lockwood (our Assistant Principal and Religious Education Coordinator) was saying to me after this morning, "What a great turn out, and what a great way to see our children so excited and getting into the spirit!"

Thank you to Mel from "Floatin' Around' and additionally Mrs Bernadette Phelps, jumping in to Mel's horse float as barista, I love seeing the connection with community and small businesses and the way in which you all support them.

I am looking forward to seeing all of our young people running in our Cross Country tomorrow.

Please have  safe and gentle Easter, understanding that we all had a chuckle at Mass this morning when Father reminded our young people that Lent finishes today and there was a distinct "YESSSSSSSS" from a few, we understand that Easter is not about the Easter Bunny and Chocolate....Easter celebrates the beginning and foundation of Christianity.. through the resurrection we are brought closer to God and our faith.

We start the triduum (a word that come from the latin root meaning 3 days) on Thursday, this is the time that traces the final days of Jesus' life, his death and resurrection. Holy Thursday through to Easter Sunday.

Easter is really about Jesus.

The resurrection really 'backs up' Jesus' claim that he had the obligation and responsibility (placed on him by God) to die on the cross for the 'sins' of the world and the power to come back to life again.

When you are thinking about your responsibility and role as a parent of a child in a Catholic School, remember you enrolled your children in a Catholic School to seek the development of spirit, mind, body and character.  That this is done through cultivating the Gospel values that support lives filled with joy, endeavour and hope in the future.

The mission statement of this school

Our Armidale Catholic Schools and St Mary of the Angels Mission

A Catholic Professional learning community committed to improving the faith, learning and wellbeing of our  students and staff.

Our Armidale Catholic Schools Vision

A Christ-centred inclusive learning community that supports young people

to realise a hope-filled future.

St Mary of the Angels Vision

A Christ-centred future-focused inclusive learning community that supports young people to realise a hope-filled future.

This vision statement, literally relates to understanding our young people who are humans who are in the moment now... they are 'beings' and it is the imperative of the school to be focussed on the future to provide the best springboard we can for our young people...  Being in the 'here and now' and with vision on the future.

Have a safe and blessed Easter break,

Zoe
